A concert of five young Italian artists who perform only with theirvoices, without using any musical instruments, will be held in Hanoion June 16.
The orchestra of Mezzotono proposes a richrepertoire, which offers a journey through a variety of differentstyles. Spanning from jazz to bossa nova, along mambo, tango, big-bandstyle and classic music, all the songs are performed in an originalinterpretation by virtue of the arrangements and the unpredictablecontribution of the rhythmic-vocal section.
The peculiarfeature of this technique, so-called "a cappella", implies that thehuman voices reproduce the different instruments, according to a specialkind of approach by the five interpreters.
The uniqueatmosphere will encourage the audience to actively participate in theshow, becoming part of the orchestra itself.
Mezzotono has beenpresenting its music in several Italian and foreign theatres around theworld, and the artists have been holding seminars and master classes inuniversities all around the world focusing on the "a cappella" musicaltechnique.
In October 2008, the group was selected as one ofthe ten best troupes in Italy and was invited to the launch of a CDA-Cappella Made in Italy.
In Hanoi 's concert, thetroupe will perform some famous Italian songs, including Quando quandoquando (Tony Renis), Un uomo in frack (Domenico Modugno) and BuonaseraSignorina (Fred Buscaglione) as well as some works composed by theMezzotono such as Only Voices and Turnip Tops.
"Mezzotono'sperformances were delightful," Paul Augustin, director of the PenangIsland Jazz Festival, stated during the artists' performance in Penangin 2012.
"A highly entertaining a cappella act, Mezzotono alsoconducted a very interesting and informative workshop, which theaudience enjoyed," he noted.
