Quang Ninh (VNA) – Vietnamese chess players excelled at the second Quang Ninh GM/IM/FM Chess Tournament 2025, which closed in Ha🌞 Long city, Quಞang Ninh province on June 12.
The week-long tournament attracted nearly 100 participants from nine countries, including India, Russia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, the Philippines, and host Vietnam. Competitors participated in two categories: the professional group (GM, IM) and the advanced amateur group (FM), playing in both standard and blitz chess formats. In the standard chess event for grandmasters, Vietnamese player Banh Gia Huy claimed the championship title in Group 1, with Indonesia's Priasmoro Novendra taking silver and India’s Kushagra Mohan securing bronze. In Group 2, the champion was Laohawirapap Prin of Thailand, while Mohammad Fahad Rahman from Bangladesh won silver and Gomez John Paul from the Philippines took bronze.
