Tokyo (VNA) – Foreign certified professi𓆉onal caregivers, including those from Vietnam will be allowed to work at patients’ homes from April, 2017, according to a recent decision by the Japanese Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare.
This is part of the economic partnership agreement (EPA) Japan signed with Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
Under the agreement, caregivers from the three ASEAN nations will be trained and work in Japan for four years. Once they have passed the national examination, they will be allowed to work permanently in Japan.
As of 2015, about 2,100 labourers were sent to Japan to work as caregivers under the EPA programme.
However, only 250 people were able to get national professional certificates and continue working in Japan.-VNA
