Hanoi (VNA) – Japan wants to step up multi-dimensional cooperation withVietnam, including in defence, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Umeda Kunio told DeputyDefence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh in Hanoi on November 22.
He stated his country will continue maintaining cooperation with Vietnam in peacekeepingmissions and between the law enforcement forces at sea as well as increasingexchanges between young officers.
General Vinh spoke highly of the growing friendship between the two countries, sayingthe bilateral defence ties have been unceasingly developed efficiently andpractically.
He stressed that security and defence cooperation is one of the importantpillars of the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership for peace andprosperity in the region.
He expected that Japan will press ahead with partnership with Vietnam inhandling unexploded bombs, mines, and explosives, treating dioxin-contaminatedareas, personnel training, and technology.-VNA
