Japanese cherry trees planted in Da Lat city

Lam Dong (VNA) – Up to 125 Japanese cherry (sakura) trees wereplanted in Da Lat city in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong onNovember 21.

Thetrees are the gift from the Himeji Flower Auction Co., Ltd of Japan on theoccasion of the 125th founding anniversary of Da Lat city that isfamed for its four-season-in-a-day climate and floriculture.

Amongthese trees, 100 were planted on International Hill in Da Lat City Flower Park,while the remaining grown at Muoi Loi garden which belongs to a renowned floriculturalartisan in the city.

Chairmanof the Da Lat People’s Committee Ton Thien San said that the local authoritieshave coordinated with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and theJapanese company in carrying out a project to popularise the use of Japanesetechnologies for the development of high-quality flower production areasthrough the modernisation of nursery and production facilities in Xuan Tho commune.

Thetree planting ceremony is one of the significant activities in celebration ofthe 125th founding anniversary of the city as well as the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties, San added.-VNA
