Japan’s Transcosmos, Can Tho city seek e-commerce partnership

Can Tho(VNA) – The People’s Committee of the Mekong delta city of Can Tho had aworking session on April 18 with a delegation from Japan’s Transcosmos group ona plan to cooperate and invest in e-commerce.
Komura Yohei, Director General of Transcosmos-Vietnam said the group startedits Vietnam operation in July 2014 and set up representative offices in Hanoiand Ho Chi Minh City.
Setting its foot in Can Tho will help the group expand its operation in Vietnamand reflect its commitment to long-term business in the country, he said.
Though Vietnam posted the highest growth rate in Southeast Asia, its e-commerceis yet to keep up with that in Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia, henoted.
Transcosmos aims tolaunch services it has succeeded in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, includingcustomers’ service, BPO and IT outsourcing services, in the city, according tothe executive.
It will initiallysend its leading engineers to help with training and technology transfer and ifthe partnership works, packaged e-commerce services and others will belaunched, he told his hosts.
With more than 50 years of operation and high-quality personnel, Transcosmos isconfident that it will become an important and long-term partner of Can Tho indeveloping and applying e-commerce services, he said.
Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Truong Quang Hoai Namwelcomed the group’s interest and cooperation, pledging the provision of maximallegal and advertisement assistance.
Established in 1966, Transcosmos is one of the leading e-commerce solutionproviders in Japan, making its presence in 34 countries worldwide.
