Kien Giang attracts visitors during Tet holiday

The southern province of Kien Giang welcomed more than 353,500 visitors during the nine-day Lunar New Year (Tet), a year-on-year rise of 27.4 percent.

Kien Giang (VNA) – The southernprovince of Kien Giang welcomed more than 353,500 visitors during the nine-dayLunar New Year (Tet) holiday, a year-on-year rise of 27.4 percent.

The number of international tourists was 23,177,up 76.4 percent year-on-year.

The provincial tourism sector grossed 260billion VND (11.1 million USD) in revenue, an annual increase of 17 percent.

According to the provincial Department ofTourism, marine eco-tourism routes with islands like Phu Quoc, Lai Son, An Son,Nam Du, Hai Tac and Ba Lua were popular destinations during the Tet holiday.

Other attractions include An Hoa cultural park,Phu Cuong urban area, Hon Phu Tu tourist site, U Minh Thuong national park andBa Hon relic site.

Notably, Phu Quoc island greeted nearly 141,000vacationers, including 22,260 foreigners, a year-on-year rise of 19.8 percentand 75.5 percent respectively.

Places like Vinpearl land entertainment park,Suoi Tranh tourist site, Phu Quoc prison historical site and Phu Quoc nightmarket drew many visitors both domestic and foreign.

Kien Giang aims to serve 8.3 million tourists in2019, up 9.2 percent against the previous year, including 640,000 foreigners,up 25.5 percent.

Tourism revenue is expected to reach 6.84trillion VND (293.8 million USD), a year-on-year rise of 10 percent.-VNA
