HCM City (VNA) – The Consulate General of Kuwait in Ho Chi MinhCity on February 26 held a celebration to mark the country’s 57th National Independence Day (February 25) and 27th Liberation Day.
Speaking at the ceremony, Kuwaiti Consul General Khaled Al-Mutairi, said friendshiphas helped develop relations between Vietnam and Kuwait in various fields,especially economy, trade, investment and education.
The two sides will enjoy a stronger bond in the future, he stated whileinviting Vietnamese enterprises to invest in Kuwait, contributing to bolsteringtwo-way trade.
Meanwhile, Le Thanh Liem, Standing Vice Chairman of the municipal People’sCommittee, congratulated the Middle East country for taking the seat as rotarychair of the United Nations Security Council in February.
He expressed his belief that based on the sound bilateral relations,cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Kuwait will be enhanced. Ho Chi MinhCity wants to work with Kuwait in development assistance, labour andeducation-training.
He hoped that Kuwait will become a gateway for the Vietnamese southern hub toenhance trade exchange with other Gulf countries.
Vietnam is currently the largest trade partner of Kuwait in the ASEAN bloc whilethe Middle East nation is among leading trade partners of Vietnam in theregion. Two-way trade in 2017 reached 350 million USD and the figure isexpected to hit 2 billion USD by 2020.
Vietnam and Kuwait are strategic partners in the oil and gas sector, withhundreds of Vietnamese working in Kuwait in the field.-VNA
