Lai Chau to host cultural festival for ethnic minority groups
The first cultural festival of ethnic groups with populations of fewer than 10,000 will take place in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau from November 3-5.
Hanoi (VNA) - The first cultural festival of ethnic groups withpopulations of fewer than 10,000 will take place in the northern mountainous provinceof Lai Chau from November 3-5.
Participating in the festival will be people representing 14 ethnic minorities,namely the peoples of O Du, Brau, Ro Mam, Pu Peo, Si La, Cong, Bo Y, Co Lao, Mang, Lo Lo,Chut, Lu, Pa Then and Ngai from 13 northern, central and Central Highlandsprovinces.
The festival will feature a vibrant array of events,including performances of traditional cultural rituals of ethnic groups, agrand cultural festival, and a showcase of traditional ethnic costumes.
It not only celebrates the rich culturalheritage of Vietnam’s ethnic minorities but also nurtures patriotic values,instills a sense of national pride, and fosters unity.
The festival is also chance for Lai Chau to promote itsunique cultural identity and attract more tourists./.
Efforts to enable poverty reduction in the southern region are to be pushed ahead in the coming time to help better the lives of ethnic minority groups in the area.
A collection of hundreds of high-quality photos depicting the culture and life of 54 ethnic minority groups across Vietnam is being on display for the first time on the global digital platform, Google Arts & Culture.
The Pa Then ethnic minority people live mainly in the two northern mountainous provinces of Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang. Though their number is small and they live in remote areas, the Pa Then people have maintained their culture, especially a fire jumping ritual.
The Party Committee and People’s Committee of the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang on October 10 organised 15 delegations to visit policy beneficiary families, Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces, and retired officials from the Khmer ethnic group, as well as Buddhist dignitaries in some Khmer pagodas on the occasion of Sene Dolta festival.
Nguyen Trong Nha Uyen has made history for Vietnam’s dancesport by clinching a bronze medal in the solo Latin category at the WDSF World Championship 2025 in Germany.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.

For the first time, Vietnamese audiences will have the opportunity to experience the ballet masterpiece "Don Quixote" in its original version by renowned choreographer Marius Petipa.

Creative cultural festivals are fast emerging as a new catalyst for tourism development in Vietnam, as localities increasingly invest in these vibrant events on a more systematic and larger scale.
This marks the first time Vietnam has hosted a continental-level Muay event which will feature competitions across 28 weight categories in combat and eight performance categories.
Coming to the Vietnamese booth, visitors had the chance to take part in a bamboo dance, a workshop on painting woven bamboo or rattan, or quizzes about Vietnam.
