Lao Cai bolster cooperation with China’s Yunnan province in border control

Lao Cai (VNA) - The border guard force of ꧃the northern province of Lao Ca🎃i joined talks with the border control force of Honghe county in the southwestern Chinese province of Yunnan on July 22 to review their collaboration since 2019, and discuss measures to strengthen border control in the coming time.

The two sides have comprehensively carried out signed cooperation mechanisms and obtained outstanding achievements in joint border patrol and law enforcement, information exchange, handling of violation cases, law dissemination, friendship exchange, and disease prevention and control at the border regions, especially against COVID-19. They also touched on current challenges and agreed on orientations to jointly implement future tasks. The sides also consented to optimise the hotline mechanism, while considering expanding online communication to timely update and exchange information, harmoniously settle incidents that occur in the border areas and further strengthen mechanisms for investigation into transnational crime and prevention and handling of illegal entry and exit. Law dissemination will be launched in both Vietnamese and Chinese languages to raise border residents’ awareness about the prevention of illegal entry and exit and COVID-19 prevention and control. The two sides reached agreement on launching a border control campaign soon./.
