Hanoi (VNA) – The LaoEmbassy in Hanoi held a celebration of the Lao traditional New Year festival Bunpimayon April 11.

Guests at the event included Tran Quoc Vuong,Politburo member and standing member of the Communist Party of Vietnam CentralCommittee’s Secretariat; Tong Thi Phong, Politburo member and Standing ViceChairwoman of the National Assembly; and Hoang Binh Quan, member of the PartyCentral Committee and head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for ExternalRelations.

Addressing the event, LaoAmbassador to Vietnam Thongsavanh Phomvihane reviewed the great accomplishmentsmade by the Lao people in the past year. He stressed that those achievementsare made possible with the cooperation and the valuable and heartfelt supportof the Vietnamese Party, State and people.

In reply, NA Vice ChairwomanTong Thi Phong said the Vietnamese Party, State and people always treasure the specialties with Laos, which has been fostered with efforts and sacrifice and many generationsof leaders, armed forces and people of both countries.  

 She affirmed that Vietnam will continue to joinhands with Laos to preserve and develop the traditional solidarity and special friendshipbetween the two countries, while promoting the bilateral comprehensivecooperation to a new high, thus meeting the aspiration and trust of theirpeople and contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and prosperity in theregion and the world.  

The Bunpimay, one of the biggest traditional festivalsof Laos, takes place from April 14 to 16 every year. During the festival,people splash water on each other to wish for luck in the new year. -VNA

Thailand approves EV bus leasing for capital

The Thai cabinet has approved a seven-year EV bus leasing scheme proposed by the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) for the capital, with an estimated cost of 15.35 billion THB (over 470 million USD).
