Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received a visiting Lao delegation led by Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Somsavad Lengsavad in Hanoi on October 19. At the separate meetings, the Vietnamese leaders congratulated Laos on its great recent achievements and expressed their pleasure with the special relationship between the two nations in all realms.
They thanked the Lao Party, State and people for their valuable support for and assistance to Vietnam during the past struggle for national liberation as well as the current national construction and development. They affirmed that Vietnam will join Laos’ efforts to preserve and foster the two countries’ special solidarity in a deep, practical and effective manner, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large.
The Vietnamese leaders urged close coordination between the two sides to effectively implement agreements reached by high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and States as well as careful preparations for the upcoming 38 th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Government Committee. For his part, the Lao Deputy PM expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people would continue to reap successes in their reform process and at Vietnam’s 12 th National Party Congress scheduled for early 2016. He asserted that Laos will work together with Vietnam to further develop their traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.-VNA
