Hanoi (VNA) – Legislators will debate a feasibilitystudy report for the first phase of Long Thanh International Airport during aplenary session in Hanoi on November 12.
The planned airport, situated near its namesake township in thesouthern province of Dong Nai, is a national key project and expected to becomea major international aviation hub in the region when it becomes operational.
The first phase of the project costs anestimated 111.689 trillion VND or about 4.779 billion USD, according to a reporton the feasibility study for the airport’s first phase of the Ministry ofTransport.
The project is made up of three investmentphases with the ultimate goal of making the airport capable of serving 100million passengersand handling 5 million tonnes of goods a year.
In the first phase of the project, one runwayand one terminal will be built, together with other components.
The same day, the NA will also look into the investment plan ofthe Ka Pet reservoir project in Ham Thuan Nam district, the south-centralprovince of Binh Thuan.
In the afternoon, lawmakers will vote to adopt a resolution onState budget estimate in 2020, and discuss the draft law amending andsupplementing some articles the Law on the Organisation of the NA.
The Law on the Organisation of the NA was issued in 2014 and tookeffect on January 1, 2016, creating a legal foundation for the organisation andoperation of the legislature./.
Long Thanh International Airport, one of Vietnam’s key projects, will make use of the most advanced technologies to reach the service quality and flying safety standards of the world's leading airports.
The Ministry of Transport has urged Dong Nai province to speed up site clearance, compensation and resettlement for affected households so that construction on the long-planned Long Thanh International Airport can begin next year.
Long Thanh International Airport will open its doors by 2025 at the latest and will handle 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tonnes of goods a year once the first phase is completed.
