Liem attends Super Grandmaster Chess event in China

Top Vietnamese chess player Le Quang Liem took part in the 9th Danzhou Super Grandmaster Chess Tournament which kicked off in China on July 27.

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Top Vietnamese chess player LeQuang Liem took part in the 9th Danzhou Super Grandmaster Chess Tournament whichkicked off in China on July 27.

Liem, who has an Elo rating of2,728, will compete against three Chinese grandmasters and four othergrandmasters; Jan-Krzysztof Duda (Elo 2,737), Samuel Shankland (Elo2,727), Vidit Santosh Gujrathi (Elo 2,718) and Vladimir Fedoseev (Elo2,707). 

This is the second year that Liemhas been invited to take part in the tournament. He has the fourth highest Elorating of this year’s competitors.

The event has a total prize of 60,000USD, of which the winner will walk away with a bonus of 24,000 USD.
