 Hanoi (VNA) – Prime MinisterNguyen Xuan Phuc has asked leaders of localities to pay special attention to combatingcorruption, explaining that high awareness could generate productive outcomes.

Speaking at a teleconference between the Government and localities nationwide inHanoi on December 28, the leader said directions to be issued by the Secretariatof the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Prime Minister will ban giving andaccepting Tet gifts.

“The fight against corruption should begin from the grassroots level to create visiblechanges,” he noted.

Regarding limitations that still remain in the settlement of petitions andcomplaints of people, the PM stressed that local authorities must holddialogues with residents.

He applauded efforts made by many ministries and agencies such as theMinistries of Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, andConstruction to cut business conditions. 

Mentioning the fourth industrial revolution, PM Phuc said he hopes leaders oflocalities, ministries and agencies will pay more heed to improvingproductivity.

At the conference, representatives of localities contributed opinions tosolutions and tasks drafted by ministries and agencies.

Earlier, they heard reports regarding business climate improvement, socialwelfare policies, capacity to access the fourth industrial revolution,administrative reform, e-Government, the settlement of petitions andcomplaints, and the anti-corruption work.

The December 28-29 conference is the largest annual conference of the Governmentto evaluate the national socio-economic performance in 2017 and set forth keysolutions and tasks for 2018.-VNA
