Kien Giang (VNA) – The Phu Quoc international passenger port on February 14 hosted luxury cruise ship Aida Stella, carrying over 2,100 international tourists to explore the island of 🔯the same name – a must-visit destination in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang.

The visitors, hailing from Germany, Australia, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and others, are the first international cruise passengers to arrive in Phu Quoc in 2025. During their stay, they will engage in sightseeing, enjoy entertainment activities, and immerse themselves in the island’s natural beauty and local culture. According to Bui Quoc Thai, Director of the Kien Giang Department of Tourism, the arrival of such a high-end international cruise ship marks a breakthrough for the sector. It is expected to boost local industries, including hospitality, dining, travel services, and commerce.
Two more luxury cruise ships with over 5,500 tourists are scheduled to arrive on February 16 and 20, he said. In recent years, Phu Quoc has gained international recognition, making it one of the world’s 10 most welcoming destinations in Booking.com’s 13th Traveller Review Awards.
That the Phu Quoc international passenger port was put into use is also hoped to trigger a boom in local tourism this year and beyond. In January alone, the island welcomed over 611,770 visitors, including 124,854 foreigners, generating a total tourism revenue of over 2.54 trillion VND (99.98 million USD). It aims to attract 7 million visitors this year, including 1 million international arrivals, representing respective annual growth rates of 17.26% and 3.9%./.
