Malaysia continues scan of illegal workers

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – As many as 62 foreign women and nine Malaysians werearrested on May 1 during an operation against illegal workers jointly held bythe Immigration Department and relevant authorities in Johor state.

Immigration Director General Mustafar Ali said that the campaign, called “OpGegar”, was carried out following information on prostitution activitiesrelated to foreign women at massage parlours in the city.

Relevant authorities made a raid on three massage centres and nabbed 62 womenfor violating immigration law, he highlighted, adding that nine local peoplewere caught for concealing illegal foreign workers.

Earlier, the Immigration Department also implemented illegal labourer crackdownsin Johor and Selangor states.

Authorities will make no concession with any foreigner illicitly staying in thecountry and they will continue similar campaigns, Mustafar Ali stressed.-VNA
