Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) is focusing on disseminating information on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement to the🅷 public before the deal is submitted to the parliament in January 2016.

Minister Mustapa Mohamed made the statement when speaking to more than 300 student representatives at a conference in Kuala Lumpur recently.
Hundreds of TPP awareness-raising conferences like this have been carried out by the MITI and the ministries of human resources and health. Next month, MITI plans to hold a meeting and a workshop on the deal with the participation of the parliament and other agencies. Meanwhile, communications programmes on the TPP will be organised in Pahang, Sarawak and Johor states. The full text of the TPP and two associated cost-benefit analysis documents were announced in Malaysia in early December.
Minister Mustapa Mohamed said Malaysia will not propose any adjustment to the official document of the Trans-Pacific Partnership deal, and the parliament will decide the nation’s engagement in the bloc. The TPP negotiations started in 2005 and concluded in late October this year. Twelve members of the agreement are Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the US and Vietnam. Once taking effect, the agreement will establish a free trade zone that represents nearly 40 percent of global GDP.-VNA
