Can Tho (VNA) – The Mini Thailand Week 2017 wasopened in Can Tho city on July 7, offering a chance to people in thesouthwestern region to try quality products and services of Thai businesses.
The week, one of cooperation activities to boostrelations and trade between Vietnam and Thailand, is organised by the ThaiMinistry of Commerce’s Department of International Trade Promotion and thetrade office of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City.
Its key event is an exhibition featuring 120booths of 83 Thai companies that display a wide range of products such asagricultural tools, food and beverages, health and beauty care products,household appliances, leather goods, and jewelry.
Thai firms also give visitors advice on studyingand travel in Thailand and promote trade and investment to seek new markets inthe southwestern region of Vietnam.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Consul Generalof Thailand in HCM City Ureerat Ratanaprukse said as of July 2017, Thailand’sinvestment in the Mekong Delta region approximated 400 million USD with 88projects.
She expressed her hope that the Mini ThailandWeek 2017 will help bolster the two countries’ economic ties, provide visitorswith various Thai products with high quality and reasonable prices, and createpartnership opportunities for Thai and Vietnamese firms.
Director of the Can Tho municipal Department ofIndustry and Trade Nguyen Minh Toai said Can Tho is currently home to fiveThai-invested projects with a total registered capital of nearly 42 millionUSD, mostly in aquatic and agricultural products processing and carton packageproduction.
