Hanoi (VNA) ⛄– To complete 3,000 km of expressways by the end of this year, ministries have been urged to ensure the progress of key projects to meet the lofty target as scheduled.

According to the Ministry of Construction, based on the situation on the ground, seven inspection teams led by Deputy Prime Ministers were established to assess the possibility of completing 28 projects with a total length of 1,188 km. The projects are divided into two groups. Group 1 consists of 18 projects covering 897 km, which no longer face major difficulties, and have closely followed the schedule. For example, two sections are expected to be completed by April 30 – one of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh project and another of the Van Phong - Nha Trang project. The main routes of four projects - Bai Vot - Ham Nghi 35 km, Ham Nghi - Vung Ang 54 km, Bung - Van Ninh 49 km, and Bien Hoa - Vung Tau 20 km. Also are also slated for completion on this occasion.
Five projects, namely Vung Ang - Bung, Van Ninh - Cam Lo, Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon, Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh, and Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan, and the remaining 13 km of the Van Phong - Nha Trang segment are expected to be completed by September 30. Meanwhile, Group 2 consists of 10 projects that are facing a host of difficulties, with progress falling behind the schedule. Among them, the Component Project 2 of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau project (18 km) managed by the Ministry of Construction is still facing roadblocks related to land clearance and technical infrastructure relocation. Several projects meet hurdles regarding land clearance, building materials, and funding. These include the Component Projects 1 and 3 of Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot, Component Project 1 of Bien Hoa - Vung Tau, and Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang. The Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project passing through the southern metropolis (47 km), its neighbouring provinces of Dong Nai (11 km) and Binh Duong (11 km) also encounters site clearance issues. Meanwhile, the 16-km Cao Lanh - An Huu project faces a shortage of sand.

Emphasising that the goal of completing 3,000 km by 2025 remains unchanged, the Ministry of Construction has proposed that the Prime Minister direct provinces to mobilise the entire political system to complete land clearance, while expediting licensing procedures, increasing the capacity of quarries and land mines, and coordinating with the Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to relocate high-voltage power lines.

The Ministry of Finance will coordinate with localities to review and allocate funding for the projects. It will push ahead with appraisal procedures for investment adjustments to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau project./.
