Ministries quick to draft report on climate change adaptation
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment together with relevant ministries and sectors have quickly completed Vietnam’s draft report on intended nationally-determined contributions (INDC) to coping with climate change.

The ministry, in conjunctionwith the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Germany’sdevelopment cooperation organization (GIZ), held a conference in Hanoion May 18 to discuss the draft report.
DeputyMinister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha said theparties involved in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC) were urged to develop the INDC report as soon as possible aheadof the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC(COP 21) in Paris, France this year.
Thereport aims to contribute to mitigating greenhouse gas emissions,promoting green growth, ensuring food and energy security, and keepingthe global temperature increase to below 2 degrees Celsius.
Maximum efforts are being exerted to involve Vietnam indiscussions on the 2015 global agreement on climate change which ishoped to come into force in 2021 and will apply to all UNFCCC members,Ha said.
In its INDC report, Vietnam wants tosupply initial information on the country’s adaptive activities toreduce CO2 emissions from 2021-2030.
With thesupport of the UNDP and GIZ, Vietnam has completed the INDC draftreport which will be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval inJune 2015.-VNA
