Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese Minister of Public Security General To Lamreceived Chief of Staff of the Chinese People's Armed Police Zhou Jianguo inHanoi on November 21.
Lamsaid that the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership hasbeen developing fruitfully and effectively thanks to trusted cooperation inpolitics, economy, defence, security, culture, social affairs andpeople-to-people exchanges.
Defenceand security cooperation is the pillar and a "bright spot" in theoverall relationship between the two countries, making an important contributionto peace, prosperity, and development in the world and the region, he said.
Tofurther develop the cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of PublicSecurity and the Chinese People's Armed Police, Lam proposed the two sidespromote the exchange of delegations at all levels, and study, build, and soonsign a cooperation agreement in fields where the two sides have the samefunctions and tasks to create a legal framework to implement specificcooperation activities.
Healso suggested the two sides study and support the organisation of trainingcourses for officers in areas, including counterterrorism, anti-protest, andanti-riot; share experience; hold joint exercises; coordinate to solve commonproblems such as search and rescue; and organise cultural exchanges, martialarts performances, or sports activities.
Onthis occasion, Lam asked Zhou to convey his sincere regards and invitation toCommander of the Chinese People's Armed Police Sen. Lt. Gen. Wang Chunning tovisit Vietnam at an appropriate time.
Forhis part, Zhou affirmed that China attaches great importance to thelong-standing traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
He expressed his hope that the relationship between the two Parties, twocountries, and two agencies will develop stably and effectively, particularlythe cooperation between the Chinese People's Armed Police and the VietnameseMinistry of Public Security./.
