Hanoi (VNA) - The Ministry of Construction (MoC) plans to open to traffic 208km of expressways of six key projects by August 19, bringing the country’s total expressway network to 2,476km.

The projects that are scheduled to be completed on this special occasion, which marks the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, are Vung Ang – Bung, Van Ninh – Cam Lo, Van Phong – Nha Trang, Quang Ngai – Hoai Nhon, Hoai Nhon – Quy Nhon, and Quy Nhon – Chi Thanh. With this milestone, the country expects to complete about 733km of expressways by the end of 2025.

Among the 733km, 11 projects are under the management of local authorities, while 14 are overseen directly by the MoC.

Some projects are still facing delays, such as components 3 and 5 of Ring Road 3 in Ho Chi Minh City, component 1 of Bien Hoa – Vung Tau project, and Tuyen Quang – Ha Giang expressway.

To address these issues, the ministry has called on managing agencies to closely monitor implementation progress and to direct investors and contractors to organise round-the-clock construction shifts. The focus is placed on proactively resolving bottlenecks, applying optimal technical solutions to shorten construction time, and ensuring that all projects are completed within this year.

Also on August 19, the MoC will begin procedures to break ground on three new expressway projects with a combined length of 302km. These include Dau Giay – Tan Phu project, component 3 of Hanoi’s Ring Road 4, and component 1 of Gia Nghia – Chon Thanh route.

To ensure the efficient operations of new expressways, the MoC is working closely with local authorities to accelerate site clearance and the construction of essential infrastructure such as rest stops, traffic monitoring systems, toll stations, and vehicle weighing stations./.
