Hanoi (VNA) –🌼 A video clip, titled “Peaceful Houses,” which captures the charity journey of Miss Vietnam 2020 Do Thi Ha in Tra Don, has recently been published on the website of the Miss World 2021.

Hailing from Vietnam’s north central province of Thanh Hoa, Ha, a student at the Hanoi-based National Economics University, is known for her compassion and positive contributions to the community. She is about to take part in Miss World 2021 in Puerto Rico from November 21 to December 16, which will gather over 100 beauties from across the globe. The “Peaceful Houses” implemented in Tra Don’s Noc Tak Lang is her Beauty with a Purpose project at the international contest. Tra Don was one of the communes that bore the brunt of flash floods and landslides hitting the central region one year ago. Losses were seen both in the form of material damage and the loss of lives. Therefore, after her coronation as Miss Vietnam, which took place in conjunction with the severe natural disaster, Ha and the organisers of the contest immediately visited local people. During the trip, the delegation assisted 18 households with 50 million VND each to rebuild their houses and donated 100 million VND (4,405 USD) to repair the local primary school. Since then, Ha has constantly monitored the project as well as encouraged the people from afar.

In April of this year, Ha returned to Tra Don, spending most of her time studying and experiencing the lives of locals after the flood. She also publicly shared images of the 18 houses after a year of construction. Knowing of the area’s shortage of clean water, Ha presented gifts of 18 water containers, 18 wardrobes and 18 stationary packages (including school bags, notebooks, pens) to the households mentioned above. Ha said that peace is not far away, but always exists in a home where there are people we love next to us and cozy meals that nurture us to grow up every day. She added that such ordinary things have inspired the project she sent to Miss World 2021.
“Even now, when looking back at the footage of my own project, I can't hold back my emotions. People in Tra Don commune lack many things, from clean water to facilities, and difficulties pile up when epidemics and natural disasters keep coming. However, the strong will and vitality of the locals gave me more motivation to complete my project quickly,” said the Miss Vietnam 2020.

“Beauty with a Purpose” is an important category of the Miss World competition, with Vietnamese representatives at previous editions like Do My Linh, Tieu Vy, and Luong Thuy Linh also receiving good comments for their sustainable community projects. Ha’s video clip has so far received applause from the audience. “Whether I am a role model to young Vietnamese people or not, I must be someone who motivates and inspires youth. I believe I can do it,” said Ha, at the final round of Miss Vietnam 2020 organised in HCM City last November. Miss Vietnam began in 1988 and is organised every two years by Tien Phong newspaper. The contest encourages young women to demonstrate their talents in their careers as well as charity and social activities.
"I aim to introduce Vietnamese culture and lifestyle to the world,” said Ha, adding that she has worked to improve her knowledge, English, and physical beauty to compete at Miss World 2021./.
