Miss World Vietnam in Europe, SNG crowned

Nguyen Thu May, a 21-year-old Vietnamese-Czech student surpassed 17 other contestants to become 2010 Miss World Vietnam in Europe at the final competition night in London on June 27.

Nguyen Thi My Hanh, a 23-year-old student from London , secured thefirst runner-up and the second-runner up title went to 23-year-old JenniBui, who is studying for a marketing master degree in Sweden .

Thu May, born in the Czech Republic to a Vietnamesefather and a Czech mother, is studying business management.

Meanwhile, the regional contest for overseas Vietnamese in theCommonwealth of Independent States (CIS) or SNG, saw Phung Thi My fromRussia crowned in Moscow on June 27.

Nguyen ThanhHuyen and Ly Karina, both from Russia , secured the first and secondrunner-up titles, respectively.

The top three winners ofeach contest will represent Europe and SNG to compete at the final roundof the 2010 Miss World Vietnam pageant expected to be held in NhaTrang, the central province of Khanh Hoa , on August 21.

Thisis only the second time the pageant has been held. In 2007, Ngo PhuongLan was crowned the first Miss World Vietnam at the final, also held inNha Trang./.

♓ Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee.
