Da Nang (VNA) – The athletic team of Vietnam secured three gold medals, two silvers, and one bronze at the 13th ASEAN Schools Games on June 6.

In the men’s javelin, Pham Van Anh Kien bagged a gold medal with 68.19m. In the men and women’s 200m hurdles, Luong Xuan Son and Dinh Thi Thu Huong finished first in 6 minutes 14.93 seconds and 7 minutes 22.51 seconds, respectively.

In the women's 2,000m hurdles and triple jump, two Vietnamese athletes won silver medals. The Vietnamese team secured a bronze medal in the women's 4x400m relay event.

At the end of the fourth day of athletic competitions, Vietnam's track and field team is taking the lead with 15 gold, 12 silver, and three bronze medals, followed by Thailand with eight gold, six silver, and six bronze medals. Malaysia comes third with seven gold, nine silver, and six bronze medals.

Themed “Connect to shine together”, the 13th ASEAN Schools Games gathers more than 1,300 students, coaches from 10 countries in the region, namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
