Hanoi (VNA) – Heavy snowfall hit severa﷽l parts of northern Vietnam on Janu🅺ary 24.

Snow began flurrying at Ba Vi National Park at 6 a.m, when the temperature was -3 degrees Celsius.
Covering Ba Vi, Thach That, and Quoc Oai districts in Hanoi and Luong Son, Ky Son districts in Hoa Binh province, the park boasts some mountains more than 1,000 metres above the sea level. No animals were reported to have died due to the severe weather, according to Deputy Director of the park Do Thanh Hung. The same day, snow also fell in Hang Kia and Pa Co communes in Mai Chau district of Hoa Binh province.
Meanwhile, Bac Yen, Van Ho, Moc Chau districts in Son La province recorded temperatures of -5 to -7 degrees Celsius on January 23 and 24. They are expected to continue to plummet. Many residential areas and streets were coated with blankets of snow. Authorities in these provinces have asked locals to take measures to protect their cattle from the cold spell.-VNA

Vietnam ramps up plastic waste recycl൲ing, reuse, tre♕atment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
