MoU signed to bolster Vietnam-Cuba multifaceted ties

Hanoi (VNA) – The 33rd meeting of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-governmental Committee wound up in Hanoi on November 19 with a memorandum of understandingꦰ (MoU) inked to enhance bilateral cooperation across the board.
During the three-day event, the two sides reviewed the implementation of agreements reached at the 32rd meeting last year and worked out solutions to existing problems.
They determined feasible scopes of cooperation for the next year on the basis of their respective potential and demand and priorities set in the mid-term bilateral economic agenda between 2015 and 2020.
Vietnamese Minister of Construction Trinh Dinh Dung, who is the Co-chairman of the inter-governmental committee, said the newly-signed MoU serves as a legal foundation for the two sides to tighten links for effective implementation of joint activities, programmes and projects.
Meanwhile, new agreements on trade, agriculture, bio-technology, health care, investment and banking will contribute to the countries’ economic and trade cooperation, which is in line with their Parties and Governments’ policies and peoples’ aspiration, he noted.
Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz, the Co-chairman of the committee, said the countries have coordinated mid- and long-term cooperation programmes in various fields. The MoU signing illustrates their resolve to consolidate their multifaceted cooperation.
Particularly, Cuba appreciates the Vietnamese Government’s continued assistance to its rice production and medicine and biological product export augmentation, he added.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction and the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment will hold a seminar in Ho Chi Minh City to introduce investment opportunities in the Caribbean nation on November 20.-VNA
Vietnam signed several contracts, worth approximately 2 million USD in total, to export its products, mostly home appliances, to Cuba during the 33rd Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2015).
