A scene in the movie (Photo: www.vietfilmfest.com) HCM City (VNA) - Actress Wanted,a film about Vietnamese-American women, winner of top prizes at the Viet FilmFest 2018 in California, will be screened at cinemas in Vietnam later thismonth.
The 96-minute film portrays the life of a womanwho pursues her dream of being a movie star in the US.
It stars Thien Nguyen and Long Nguyen, who wonthe Best Lead Actress and Best Lead Actor, respectively, at the Viet Film Fest2018 organised by Vietnamese-American Arts and Letters Association last month.
The Viet Film Fest 2018 featured 30 entries,including 17 short films, by filmmakers living in the US, Europe, Canada,Malaysia and Vietnam.
Seminars and forums on Vietnamese films wereincluded during the event that attracted 3,500 attendees.
Actress Wanted was also nominated in theBest Feature Film category.
The film is the second feature production byVietnamese-American director Nguyen Duc Minh, a graduate in scriptwriting atthe University of Southern California.
Minh’s first film, Touch, released in 2011,was about the love story of a Vietnamese-American manicurist and an Americanmechanic.
Touch won several top prizes at filmfestivals in the US, including Best Actress at the Boston International FilmFestival 2011 and Best First Feature at the Santa Rosa International FilmFestival in California in 2012.
Actress Wanted will open in cinemas inHanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang on November 23.-VNA
