Museum on Hoang Sa, Truong Sa to be built in Ly Son Island

A historic museum on Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos will be built in Ly Son Island in the central province of Quang Ngai at a cost of over 140 billion VND.
A historic museum on Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos will be builtin Ly Son Island in the central province of Quang Ngai at a costof over 140 billion VND.

Chairman of the provincial People’sCommittee Cao Khoa said on September 16 that the museum will be locatedin An Hai commune and close to Hang (Cave) pagoda, a nationalcultural-historical heritage.

Ly Son Island is home to aroundten provincial or national cultural-historical sites. More than half ofthe relics, pagodas and documents preserved by local families directlyrelate to the history of Vietnam ’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa andTruong Sa archipelagos.

Particularly, the Ministry of Culture,Sports and Tourism has recognised the Feast and CommemorationFestival for Hoang Sa Soldiers as a national intangible heritage.

An Vinh communal house, where villagers in the old days gathered todiscuss the selection and recruitment of soldiers sent to Hoang Saarchipelago, has also been listed as a national cultural heritage.-VNA
