Music Awards 2016 announced

The Vietnam Musicians’ Association announced the 2016 Music Awards in Hanoi on January 5.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Musicians’Association announced the 2016 Music Awards in Hanoi on January 5.

Thirty-three songs won the awards with Prize Abelonging to “Cuop vo mua yeu” (Vying for wife in wedding season) by musicianManh Cuong from the northwestern province of Dien Bien and “Mien Tay ngay nanglen” (Southwestern region on sunny day) by Quang Thanh Giang from the MekongDelta city of Can Tho.

In the category of musical instruments, therewas no Prize A. Prize B was presented to Symphony No.3 by Tran Manh Hung fromHo Chi Minh City.

In the opera and chorus category, the work “Lado” (Red leaves) by Do Hong Quan from Hanoi bagged Prize A. 

In the chamber music category, Prize B was grantedto the solo monochord performance with national orchestra “Bien que huong” (thecountry’s seas) of Nguyen Thuy My from Hanoi and a bamboo instrument performanceof Doan Tien also from the capital city.

Prize A of the art song field went to “Mat nho”(Eyes with memories) of Nguyen Tien Manh (Hanoi) and “Thom con mua thang ba” (Thefragrant March rain) of Tran Minh Duc (Hanoi).

The association also presented awards to CD“Cong nong binh” (Workers and Peasants) of Tran Hong Nhung (Hanoi), and CD“Raff” of Nguyen Bich Tra from England./.

꧙ Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.
