Can Tho (VNA) – National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Nganattended a ceremony to mark the 42nd anniversary of the SouthLiberation and National Reunification Day, International Labour Day and the 127th birth anniversary of late President Ho Chi Minh in the Mekong delta city of CanTho on April 28.
Addressing thefunction, Vo Thanh Thong, Chairman of the municipal Can Tho People’s Committee,recalled the undaunted spirit of Can Tho’s residents and their contributions tothe country’s victory on April 30, 1975 that led to the national reunification.
In the currentnational building, Can Tho city aims for a GDP growth rate of 7.25 percent ayear, and shifts its economic structure towards higher trade and service,industrial and high-tech agriculture proportions, Thong stressed.
The city will workharder to display its motivating role in the Southwest’s socio-economicdevelopment, and ensure political stability and security in the Mekong deltaregion and the whole country, the official noted.
