A grand ceremony heralded the National Tourism Year 2018 and the Carnaval Ha Long programme in the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh on April 28.

Quang Ninh, (VNA) – A grandceremony heralded the National Tourism Year 2018 and the Carnaval Ha Longprogramme in the northern coastal provinceof Quang Ninh on April 28,with the presence of several Party, National Assembly and Government leaders.
Chairman of Quang Ninh People’s Committee Nguyen DucLong said the province is honoured to be chosen to host the National TourismYear 2018. He said 100 events will be held throughout the year, with more than50 in Quang Ninh alone, promising that the activities will bring impressive andinteresting experience for visitors.
Declaring the start of the 2018 National Tourism Yearand the Ha Long Carnival 2018, Long said the province aims to become ahigh-class tourism centre of the region and the world.
ꦦ Last year, Quang Ninh welcomedmore than 10 million tourists, 4 million of who came from other countries. Theprovince aims to attract over 12 million visitors this year, including 5million foreigners.
National Assembly ChairwomanNguyen Thi Kim Ngan stressed the role of tourism in Quang Ninh’s socio-economicdevelopment. Noting that the Politburo had issued Resoluton 08-NQ/TW onturning tourism into a spearhead economic sector, Ngan said to realize the goalsset by resolution, the National Tourism Year has been organized annually. This is an important event to promote unique tourism products of thecountry in general and the host locality in particular. She hailed Quang Ninh for thecareful and responsible preparations for the National Tourism Year 2018, andexpressed her hope that the province will be able to achieve new and sustainabledevelopment in tourism.
The Carnaval Ha Long 2018 – a banquetof music, light and art, is the first event of the 2018 National Tourism Year –Quang Ninh.

The National Tourism Year 2018 is an opportunity for the northern province of Quang Ninh to promote its image to international friends, said Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Long.
The annual ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF 2019) is scheduled to take place in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh from January 14-19 under the theme “ASEAN: The Power of One”.
The first and only direct service connecting the two countries at the moment is set to operate three times per week using the modern wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
