Hanoi(VNA) – The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on September 15 discussed reportsof the Government, the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuracyon the settlement of complaints and denunciations in 2017.

The Government’s reportsaid that since 2016, the number of complaints and denunciations has reduced, but there are more complicated cases involved large numbers of people (up 13.5percent), the majority of which are related to land issues.

According to theGovernment, the ratio of successful settlement of the cases is higher than thatin the same period last year, but still stays below targets. Many localitiesstill show poor performance in the work.

Speaking on itsassessment of the Government’s report, the NA Law Committee remarked that theGovernment’s report has yet to make deep analysis of the results and quality ofthe reception of citizens and handling petitions and denunciations, particularlythe causes of the cases. The report also fails to give full data on the handlingof the heads of agencies with violations in receiving citizens and dealing withcomplaints.

Solutions to existingproblems given in the report are too general, the committee said.

Chairman of the NA LawCommittee Nguyen Khac Dinh requested that in the coming time, the Governmentshould improve the efficiency of citizen reception work and complaintsettlement, as well as the popularization and education of law among thecommunity.-VNA
