NA Standing Committee discusses 2021-2025 economic restructuring plan
The National Assembly Standing Committee gave opinions on the economic restructuring plan for the 2021-2025 period during its ongoing fourth session in Hanoi on October 12.
Hanoi (VNA) – TheNational Assembly Standing Committee gave opinions on the economicrestructuring plan for the 2021-2025 period during its ongoing fourth sessionin Hanoi on October 12.
Speaking at the event,Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said amid challenges in theworld as well as complicated developments of COVID-19 pandemic,the above plan needs to be carried out more drastically to step up economicrecovery, tap opportunities and make breakthroughs for the next period.
The plan suggests fivegroups of measures and tasks to restructure economic sectors, consolidatemacro-economic foundation, perfect institutions, and step up innovation anddigital transformation. It also details 135 tasks for ministries, agencies and localities.
Chairman of the NACommittee on Economic Affairs Vu Hong Thanh said the committee agrees with theabove five groups of tasks and measures.
Standing NA Vice ChairmanTran Thanh Man proposed the Government continue updating the impacts of thepandemic and give priority to economic restructuring to each period in tandemwith ensuring resources.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment has said that it is coordinating with relevant ministries, agencies and localities to build a national economic restructuring plan for the 2021-2025 period, with an aim to creating a breakthrough change in the growth model towards higher productivity, quality and competitiveness.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested thoroughly and scientifically studying measures to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic while chairing the Government’s monthly meeting in Hanoi on September 6.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
