Vietnam attaches importance to developing friendship and cooperationwith Latin American countries, including consolidating and strengtheningmulti-faceted relations with Chile, said National Assembly ViceChairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
Ngan made theremark during the reception in Hanoi on March 31 for Vice President ofthe Lower House of the National Congress of Chile Denise Pascal Allende,who is in Vietnam for the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary UnionAssembly (IPU-132).
During the meeting, the hostsuggested the two nations’ legislatures support and promote measuresto enhance the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Chile.
Shesaid through all-level delegation exchange and meetings, the bilateralrelations have expanded in recent years, adding that the links betweenthe two countries’ legislative bodies have yielded positive results.
Economic and trade cooperation developed strongly, especiallyafter Vietnam and Chile signed a bilateral Free Trade Agreement, shenoted.
She urged the two Governments to back one another atmultilateral forums, such as the United Nations, IPU and Asia-PacificEconomic Cooperation (APEC), saying that Vietnam hopes Chile willsupport Vietnam’s candidacy to the UN Security Council (2020-2021) andthe UN Economic and Social Council (2016-2018).
For her part,Denise Pascal Allende expressed her hope that Vietnam and Chile willfurther promote their cooperation, especially in economics, politics,culture and agriculture.-VNA
