Hanoi (VNA)🍸 - The Prime Minister has approved a national action programme on sustainable production and consumption until 2020 with a vision to 2030.

The programme aims to gradually shift towards sustainable production and consumption through promoting the more effective use of green and renewable resources and energy, limiting the discharge of waste and encouraging waste recycle.
From 2016-2020, the main objective of the programme is to raise the application of green technology among enterprises that have high energy needs and emissions. Other targets include making 50 percent of industrial producers apply green and energy-saving production measures, and cutting the use of eco-unfriendly packaging in super markets, trade centres and open markets by between 50-65 percent.
Research will be conducted and standards will be developed to promote and recognise green distribution networks and supply chains. Sustainable connections will also be developed among material suppliers, producers, distributors and consumers. Communications and training will be enhanced to raise awareness of sustainable production and consumption and a legal framework will be put in place for all stakeholders to develop green practices for an environmentally-friendly society.-VNA
