Almost 1,400 contestants from 59 countries and territories worldwide took part in the multisport Ironman competition in the central city of Da Nang on May 7.
Da Nang (VNA) – Almost 1,400 contestantsfrom 59 countries and territories worldwide took part in the multisport Ironmancompetition in the central city of Da Nang on May 7.
Their racing events consisted of a 1.9km oceanswim near the Son Thuy beach, a two-loop 90km bike race and a 21km run alongthe coastline.
Last year’s winners Cyril Viennot and CarolineSteffen were also presented among competitors.
Along the Ironman 70.3, another triathlon, theSunrise Sprint, in its Da Nang debut, treated athletes to a shorter course of750m on the ocean, 20km on bikes and 5km on foot.
Sporty children, on May 6, found theirplayground in the beach city with the Ironkids race, which enabled them to runand participate in aquathlon. A 140m swim and 2km run course was designated foryoung athletes between 11 and 14 years old, while the routes for youngerchildren from six to ten were reduced by half.
Thirty best athletes from all age groups will havea chance to join the 2017 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Chattanooga,Tennessee, the US.-VNA
More than 5,000 athletes and tourists will participate in the annual Da Nang International Marathon – one of the biggest sport events in central Vietnam – on August 6, 2017.
More than 500 athletes will compete in the Challenge Vietnam triathlon in the coastal city of Nha Trang, the central province of Khanh Hoa on August 27.
Multisport competitions for both adults and children, including the popular Ironman race, are schedule to hit the central coastal city of Da Nang on May 7.
Nguyen Trong Nha Uyen has made history for Vietnam’s dancesport by clinching a bronze medal in the solo Latin category at the WDSF World Championship 2025 in Germany.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
