Hanoi (VNA) - Police of central Khanh Hoa province startedcriminal proceedings against Le Huy Toan, Deputy Chairman of the Nha Trang cityPeople’s Committee, for lacking responsibilities and causing seriousconsequences related to the Hoang Long urban area project.

The police also issued a house searching order and banned Toan from leaving hisresidence.

Toan was president of a council in charge of resettlement compensation andassistance for the Hoang Long urban area project in Phuoc Long ward which isinvested by the Construction and Geology Investment UPGC One Member Joint StockCompany.

Khan Hoa province police are expanding investigation into the project’sviolations.

Police also commenced criminal proceedings against Luong Nhu Giap, official ofNha Trang city’s Finance and Planning Division, and Vo My, official of thecity’s urban management division, for similar charges.

Related to the project’s violations, police last month began proceedingsagainst Vu Thi Mai Huong, former chairwoman of the Phuoc Long ward People’sCommittee, and Nguyen Duc Cuong, the ward’s land official.

They are being investigated for violations related to compensation, assistanceand resettlement of the project.

In December last year, Do The Vinh and Nguyen Ngoc Khanh - two officials of theConstruction and Geology Investment UPGC Company – were arrested for fakingdocuments to receive preferential mechanisms of compensation and resettlementassistance of the Hoang Long urban area project. - VNA
