Khanh Hoa (VNA) – The biennial Nha Trang-Khanh Hoa Sea Festival in thecentral coastal province of Khanh Hoa bid farewell to thousands of visitors onMay 14 with a dazzling art performance.

At the closing ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s CommitteeNguyen Dac Tai said that the four festive days, featuring a string of cultural,artistic and sport activities, helped nudge the local strengths in economy,culture and tourism closer to domestic and international friends.

Local cultural and traditional characteristics werehighlighted through the whale-worshipping festival, street festival, cuisinefestival, Salangane nest festival, folk games, and a traditional human chesstournament.

Besides, other activities like international scientific conference onsustainable development for Vietnamese Salangane nests, and releasing of youngsea animals in Nha Trang Bay were organised to raise public awareness of seaand island environment protection.

On the occasion, the Vietnam Records Organisation presented certificates forthe 10 Vietnam Records in the locality, including those for the province withthe most beautiful bays in Vietnam and the largest stamp collection on marinecreatures.

The sea festival has been heldbiennially since 2003. According to the provincial Department of Tourism, morethan 143,000 visitors flocked to Khanh Hoa during the festival this year, whichwas organised as part of the Visit Vietnam Year 2019 themed “Nha Trang – Colourof the Sea”.

Boasting 180 kilometres of coastline, stunningnatural landscapes with Van Phong, Nha Trang and Cam Ranh bays listed as theworld’s most beautiful bays, together with many exciting festivals such asPonagar Temple festival, whale worshipping festival, and Salanganes Festival,Khanh Hoa province is a popular tourism destination in the central region.-VNA
