Nine localities recorded over 10 percent growth in gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the first sixth month of this year, reported the General Statistics Office (GSO).
Hanoi (VNA) –Nine localities recorded over 10 percent growth in gross regional domesticproduct (GRDP) in the first sixth month of this year, reported the GeneralStatistics Office (GSO).
The central province of Ha Tinh topped the list. It was followed by Bac Ninh,Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Bac Giang, Quang Ninh, Lao Cai, Ninh Thuan and Long An.
According to the GSO, manyother localities achieved high GRDP growth between 8-10 percent, including ThaiNguyen, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Dak Nong, Quang Ngai, Kien Giang, Hai Duong, LamDong, Binh Thuan, Dong Thap and Hau Giang.
However, Ba Ria-VungTau, Hoa Binh, Lai Chau and Cao Bang were among localities with low growth inthe reviewed period.
Although in the leadinggroup, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City saw a GRDP expansion of more than 7 percent.
In term of economicregion, the Red River Delta Region took the top position with 12.02 percent,followed by the Northern Central and Central Coastal Region with 8.61 percent.
Major reasons behindthe big gap in GRDP growth between the two regions were the strongerdevelopment of industry and construction in some northern and centrallocalities such as Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thai Binh, HaTinh and Quang Ngai.
Lowest growth wasrecorded in thesoutheast region at only 4.17 percent.
Thenorthern midland and mountainous region recorded growth of 8.43 percent,followed by the Mekong Delta region (7.61 percent) and the Central Highlandsregion (7.28 percent).-VNA
