Norwegian King hails Vietnam’s dynamic development
The King of Norway Harald V has appreciated Vietnam’s dynamic development and the country’s efforts in strengthening the relationship and cooperation between the two countries.
Hanoi (VNA) ♚– The King of Norway Harald V has appreciated Vietnam’s dynamic development and the country’s efforts in strengthening the relationship and cooperation between the two countries.
At a recent meeting with outgoing Vietnamese Ambassador to Norway Le Thi Tuyet Mai, the King praised active contributions made by the diplomat to promoting the bilateral ties.
He said he hopes the ambassador will continue contributing to the relations in her new position in the coming time.
The King recalled his State-level visit to Vietnam in 2004 and the official visit of Crown Prince Haakon Magnus and Princess Mette Marit to the country in 2014, saying that he was impressed by friendly and hospitable people and beautiful landscapes in the country.
For her part, Ambassador Mai thanked the King and the Royal Family for their support during her working tenure in Norway.
The Vietnamese State, National Assembly and Government highly value endeavours of the Norwegian Royal Family, Government and Parliament to step up the multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries as well as create favourable conditions for overseas Vietnamese to live and work in the country, she said.
She promised to do her best, in any capacity, to further foster the bilateral relationship.
Vietnam is now one of Norway’s important trade partners in Southeast Asia and a potential market for Norwegian investors in the region.
Meanwhile, Vietnam considers Norway a vital partner, which can help the country realise its sustainable developments goals in the fields of fishery, aquaculture, environmental protection and climate change adaptation, education-training, gender equality, IT and cultural exchange.
As of June 2016, two-way trade between the two countries reached about 189 million USD.
The two countries is looking to expand their investment and trade links, especially in maritime economic development, as negotiations on a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), which comprises Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, are going to be concluded.-VNA
Norway appreciates ongoing negotiations on a FTA between the European Free Trade Area and Vietnam, which serve as a tool for tapping great potential in trade cooperation between the two nations.
Norwegian conductor Magnus Loddgard will conduct both Norwegian and Vietnamese works with cellist Nguyen Tan Anh and soprano Cho Hae Ryong (the Republic of Korea) on October 9.
Vietnam always regards the RoK as an important and long-term strategic partner; and hopes that the two sides will work together to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a more substantive, effective, and comprehensive manner in the coming time.

At the working session, General Secretary Lam presented the Party Committee of the VFF and central mass organisations with the Politburo’s Decision No. 304-QD/TW, which outlines the new structure, functions and tasks of the VFF Central Committee, marking a significant step in improving its organisational effectiveness.
Describing the exhibition as a large-scaled, content-rich, and unprecedented event with high requirements and limited preparation time, PM Pham Minh Chinh urged all ministries, sectors, and localities to participate with the highest sense of responsibility, ensuring the exhibition is inclusive, objective, truthful, feasible, and impactful.

PM Pham Minh Chinh instructed chairpersons of the People’s Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to strictly follow the Ministry of Finance's guidelines on handling public finances and budgets, with a focus on preventing wastefulness, misconduct, or corruption.
Knapper reaffirmed the US's commitment to supporting a strong, independent, prosperous and resilient Vietnam, while respecting each other’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, independence and political systems.
Vietnam is deeply concerned about the escalating and complex conflict in the Middle East, which poses a serious threat to the lives and safety of civilians, as well as to regional and global peace and stability.
