Olympic Run Day for Public Health slated for late March

The Olympic Run Day for Public Health 2019 will take place on March 24 morning, the Vietnam Sports Administration announced on March 6.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Olympic Run Day for Public Health2019 will take place on March 24 morning, the Vietnam Sports Administrationannounced on March 6.

So far, 50 out of the 63 cities and provinces nationwidehave designed plans to respond to the event, with 25 localities holding the dayat provincial and city levels.

The Olympic Run Day will be organized around that time insome localities such as Dak Nong, Gia Lai, Ha Nam, Nghe An, and Thanh Hoa.Meanwhile, some localities will associate the event with local cross-countryevents.

The Olympic Run Day for Public Health is part of the activitiesto mark the 73th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s call on the communityto practice physical exercise (March 27, 1946), and the 88th foundingday of the physical training and sports sector as well as the establishment ofthe Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26).

The annual event aims to develop the physical exercise andsport movement among the community.

To ensure the success of the event, the Ministry of Culture,Sports and Tourism has sent a document to localities asking them to direct andmonitor the organization of the event, along with strengthening communicationson the importance of physical exercise and sports in protecting and improvinghealth and living quality, thus developing a healthy lifestyle.

In Hanoi, the Olympic Run Day for Public Health 2019 will beassociated with the 46th running tournament held by the Ha Noi Moi (NewHanoi) newspaper, which will take place in the morning of March 24.-VNA
