Ha Giang (VNA) – More than 1,000 runners,including 91 foreigners from 22 countries, joined a marathon tournament in thenorthern mountainous province of Ha Giang on April 30.
The runners participated in various distances, namely 42km,21km, 10km and 5km, starting from Dong Van town. They are divided into differentage and sex groups.
Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran DucQuy said he hopes that after the annual tournament, each participant will serveas a communications worker to popularise the knowledge on the land and peopleof Ha Giang to foreign and domestic friends.
The run came within the framework of the activities markingthe 100th anniversary of the province’s Khau Vai love market andannouncing the UNESCO’s recognition of Dong Van Karst Plateau as a globalgeopark for the second time. It created a chance to cement and strengthen theexchanges and cooperation between Ha Giang and other provinces and cities inthe countries and foreign localities.-VNA

The U23 competition will run from June 16 to 22, followed by the U17 event from June 23 to 28, while athletes competing in the U23 category will undergo weight and skill checks ahead of the matches starting June 18, while similar checks for U17 athletes will take place before June 23.
