Quang Ninh (VNA) –♔ A Vietnam – China cross-border cycling race took place in the northern province of Quang Ninh on March 31, attracting about 300 cyclists from both countries.

Jointly organised by the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Culture, Sports, and Tourism Bureau of Fangchenggang city, China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the event aimed to mark the 75th anniversary of the Vietnam – China diplomatic relations (January 18, 1950–2025) and the Year of Vietnam – China Humanistic Exchange 2025. The event officially commenced at the demarcation line between the Hoanh Mo (Vietnam) and Dongzhong (China) border gates. About 200 participants from China and 100 others from Vietnam completed a 30-kilometer route in two 15-kilometer laps, travelling from Hoanh Mo Border Gate to Binh Lieu Palace Hotel in Binh Lieu district of Quang Ninh and back.
The ride was a significant initiative following the 2025 spring meeting between the Party Secretaries of Vietnam’s Cao Bang, Lang Son, Ha Giang, and Quang Ninh provinces and the Party Secretary of China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It also accorded with the friendship exchange agreement between the Party committees of Binh Lieu and Fangcheng districts, helping to strengthen solidarity, promote cultural and sporting exchange, and boost cross-border tourism cooperation.
By hosting this event, Binh Lieu and Fangcheng also looked to enhance economic and trade ties, facilitate tourism and goods clearance, and improve local infrastructure and services. Nguyen Viet Dung, Director of Quang Ninh’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, emphasised the need for both sides to uphold high-level agreements, strengthen political trust, and expand all-round cooperation, particularly in maximising the potential of the Hoanh Mo – Dongzhong border gate pair to foster bilateral trade, services, and tourism, ultimately improving local residents' life quality./.
