More than 5,000 runners from 50 delegations across the country are expected to join in the 62nd Tien Phong Newspaper Marathon, slated for March 27-28 in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai.

Hanoi (VNA) – More than 5,000 runners from50 delegations across the country are expected to join in the 62nd Tien Phong Newspaper Marathon, slated for March 27-28 in the Central Highlandsprovince of Gia Lai.
They comprises 500 professional and 4,500 amateurathletes who will compete in 5km, 10km, 21km and 42km categories, according tothe Vietnam Sports Administration under the Ministry of Culture, Sports andTourism.
Organisers said as of early March 2021, over 4,000athletes had registered for the event.
The tournament is expected to help promote theimage, culture and people of Gia Lai to domestic and foreign friends.
To ensure the success of the event, provincialleaders asked relevant units to quickly devise a detailed scenario, and assigntasks to departments, agencies and localities.
How to organise the tournament safely amidst thecomplex developments of the COVID-19 pandemic is a top priority, the organiserssaid. /.
More than 2,200 runners will race up to 100km in Vietnam’s highest mountains at the Vietnam Mountain Marathon (VMM) 2020 in Sa Pa in the northern province of Lao Cai this weekend.

More than 4,300 Vietnamese and foreign runners will race up to 70km on trails through orchards and tea fields in the Vietnam Trail Marathon (VTM) in Moc Chau district, northern mountain province of Son La, on January 30.
This year’s tournament has gathered over 300 coaches, athletes, and referees from 18 countries and territories, competing in 28 combat weight categories and eight performance categories. Vietnam’s team has 50 athletes, including six from Thai Nguyen province.
It is the first time that the country is to hold a G1-level tournament which is expected to lure more than 100 athletes of 15 countries and regions at Go Vap Gymnasium.
