Mexico City (VNA) – The Vietnamese and Mexican legislative bodies will step up parliamentary diplomacy to strengthen the traditional friendship as both countries are celebrating their 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.
At a meeting with Speaker of the Mexican Chamber of Deputies Sergio Carlos Gutiérrez Luna on March 13, Vietnamese Ambassador - Designate Nguyen Van Hai affirmed Mexico is Vietnam's leading partner in Latin America, highlighting the robust relationship between the two countries has expanded across multiple areas, from politics and economy to cultural diplomacy and been reflected through mutual support at international forums like the UN and the Asia – Pacific Economic Cooperation, and multilateral parliamentary platforms.
He expressed his hope that the legislative agencies of the two sides will enhance delegation exchanges on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic ties, helping consolidate the cooperation between the parliaments and the bilateral relations at large.
Gutiérrez Luna, for his part, advocated for establishing a Vietnam – Mexico parliamentary friendship group, describing it as an important milestone in enhancing legislative relations between the two countries in the coming time.
Welcoming recent positive developments in the bilateral relations, he underscored Mexico's desire to strengthen ties with Vietnam across all channels, particularly in economic, trade, and bilateral investment cooperation.♚ Regarding the upcoming 50th anniversary celebrations in 2025, he said the Mexican Ch🎀amber of Deputies stands ready to assist the Vietnamese Embassy in organising cultural events, including activities promoting Vietnam's images and the Vietnam-Mexico relations./.
