Hanoi (VNA) – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong hosted a reception inHanoi on April 17 for Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, duringwhich he affirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) welcomes strengthenedcooperative ties with political parties and is ready to share nationaldevelopment experience with Sri Lanka.

TheParty chief spoke highly of the outcomes of the earlier talks and meetingsbetween PM Wickremesinghe and Vietnamese leaders, adding that the CPV andVietnamese people always attach importance to the long-standing friendship and multifacetedcooperation with Sri Lanka.

Hesuggested the two sides take specific measures to effectively deployalready-signed agreements and wished that the bilateral relationship would continuegrowing practically and effectively for the benefits of their people.

TheParty leader also conveyed his profound condolences to families of victims in arecent garbage mountain collapse that left at least 26 dead and dozens missingin the suburb of Colombo capital city.

PMWickremesinghe, for his part, noted that Sri Lanka always places importance onpromoting the time-honoured friendship, people-to-people exchange andmultifaceted cooperation with Vietnam.

Hehoped that the two nations would continue reinforcing bilateral ties and mutualsupport at multilateral forums, making practical contributions to maintainingpeace, stability and development in the region and the world.

ThePM highly evaluated Vietnam’s great achievements in national construction anddevelopment and believed that the country would continue developing strongly inthe time to come.-VNA
