Patriotic singers to perform together

Two singers famous for their rendering of patriotic compositions, Trong Tan and Anh Tho, will perform together in Hanoi on Vietnamese Women’s Day, October 20.

Hanoi (VNA) -Two singers famous for their rendering of patriotic compositions, Trong Tan andAnh Tho, will perform together in Hanoi on Vietnamese Women’s Day, October 20.

This is the second timethat the singers are performing live together since 2013. They have named theirupcoming concert after their bestselling album, Tinh Ta Bien Bac DongXanh (Our Love, Silver Sea, Green Fields).

“We couldn’t imagine thatthe audience loved us so much! The interest in our concert was amazing! Withina week, all 1,200 tickets were sold out and many people were still calling usto ask for tickets,” said Tan, known as Vietnam’s number one tenor, recallingthe 2013 concert.

This time, the artists willperform at the 3,700-seat My dinh National Convention Centre, to meet the“enthusiasm of our fans,” he said.

They will perform long-timefavourites like Bai Ca Thong Nhat (The Song ofUnification), Mua Chim En Bay (Season of Swallows), TamBiet Chim En (Goodbye, Swallows), Tren Dinh Phu Van (Onthe Phu Van Peak), and Dat Nuoc Tinh Yeu (The Country ofLove).

Although the two artistshave performed these songs several times, they have promised to bring somethingnew to the upcoming show.

“To refresh the old songs,the live show’s choreographer – musician and songwriter Thanh Phuong, hasremixed them in a modern style,” said Tan, who is also the show’s musicdirector.

The show will also includetheir hits like Gap Nhau Giua Rung Mo (We Meet in the ApricotForest), Gui Em O Cuoi Song Hong (To My Dear at Red River’sLower Reaches) and Tinh Ta Bien Bac Dong Xanh.

Two guest artists from HCMCity, diva Hong Nhung and singer Duc Tuan, will add a more ‘romantic colour tothe show,’ Tan said.

Alongside their soloperformances, the artists will entertain the audience with duets and evenquartet performances, singing compositions of Trinh Cong Son, Pham Duy and NgoThuy Mien.

The show will start at 8pmon October 20 at the My Dinh National Convention Centre.

Since winning the NationalTelevision Singing Festival 1999, which later became the Morning StarRendezvous, Vietnam’s most prestigious singing contest, Tan has built his famemainly in the patriotic music genre and folk tunes. He has been dubbed the‘Prince of Patriotic Songs’.

A top-three finisher at theNational Television Singing Festival in 1999, and runner-up at the NationalChamber Singing Contest in 2000, Tho, like her friend Tan, has also carved aname for herself in the patriotic genre for almost two decades. She iscurrently a vocal music lecturer at the National Academy of Music.-VNA
