Pencak Silat events at 13th ASEAN Schools Games begin

Da Nang (VNA) – Events of Pencak Silat at the 13th ASEAN Schools Games began at the cultural centre of Son Tra district, the central city of Da Nang, on June 3.

Athletes will compete in 16 categories, including men’s and women’s combat and performance ones, between June 3 and 6.

Qualifiers of combat and performance events took place on June 3. Men’s combat events took place in the afternoon with the matches of Vietnam - Brunei, Thailand - Laos, and Malaysia - Indonesia in the 51 - 54.9kg category, and Brunei - Malaysia, Laos - the Philippines, and Thailand - Indonesia in the 55 - 58.9kg category.

Themed “Connect to shine together”, the 13th ASEAN Schools Games gathers more than 1,300 students along with coaches from 10 countries in the region.

🐻 It takes place from May 29 to June 9, featuring 107 categories of six sports: swimming, basketball, badminton, athletics, Pencak Silat, and Vovinam./.
